TIMS (Teaching Integrated Math and Science)

Due- Thursday, December 17th

*If you are going to be leaving early this week, you need to make arrangements with Mrs. Hooper or Ms. Woods

  • Monday- (1st time)
  1. Form groups
  2. Number your packet pg.1-13
  3. At the bottom of pg.1 and pg.4: change manipulated variable to independent variable; responding variable to dependent variable (Explain)
  4. Label the Table pg. 2 and pg.5: distance- meters, time- seconds, velocity- D/T meters/seconds
  5. Label the Activities in the table pg.2 and pg.5: bunny hop, l-leg hop, skip, toe-heel forwards, toe-heel backwards
  6. Determine who will complete which activity for each experiment

  • Monday- (2nd time)
  1. Sketch both graphs:
    1. Each graph should be labeled; one should be labeled Experiment 1 and the other should be labeled Experiment 2
    2. Label the x-axis (time- seconds) and the y-axis (distance- meters)
    3. Experiment 1, y-axis should measure 6 meters spaced evenly
    4. Experiment 2, x-axis should measure 3 seconds spaced evenly
  2. Go in the hallway and create at least 10 stations where they measure 6 meters. There should be a strip of tape to mark each meter.
  3. Have the students model each activity
  4. Go over the rubric

  • Tuesday- (Math and Science)
  1. Collect data for Experiment 1 on pg.2 and Experiment 2 on pg.5
  2. Draw the corresponding pictures for each experiment on pg.1 and pg.4 (don’t forget to answer the questions at the bottom of each page)- Stick figures are welcome. Name, distance, time, direction, and activity should be labeled.
  3. Complete the corresponding graphs for each experiment
  4. Complete the questions on pg.2 and pg.5 that follow each table

  • Wednesday- (Math and Science)
  1. Complete Comprehension Check 1
  2. Complete Comprehension Check 2
  3. Complete Graphs for Problem #13 and #14

  • Thursday- (Math and Science)
  1. Complete Comprehension Check 3
  2. Turn in your completed TIMS project
Friday- (No Math Class)
